DEER OFF
DEER-OFF, an all natural deer repellent, has been registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as safe when used to protect edible crops and orchards from deer, rabbits and squirrels. In a Rutgers University study, DEER-OFF was found to be the best performing and most effective product among 25 substances tested. This EPA designation makes DEER-OFF the only deer repellent registered for use on vegetable crops and fruit trees that is not required to include a "WARNING" or "DANGER" signal-the Government's most serious safety designations-on its label.
"This expanded label is good news for gardeners who want to protect their edible crops, flowers, bulbs, trees and shrubs from deer and ground pests, but must have a deterrent that's safe to use," said Athena P. Loucas, DEER-OFF's president. "DEER-OFF is safe because we make it from natural, food-based products."
DEER-OFF offers gardeners twice the protection because its patented dual deterrent system leaves both an odor and taste that deer, rabbits and squirrels find offensive. Made from natural, biodegradable food products, DEER-OFF contains no harmful chemicals and is safe for people, animals and the environment. A single application lasts up to three months though it can be washed off of fruits and vegetables and will not become dissipated from exposure to rain and snow. DEER-OFF will not change the color or texture of plants and does not leave a filmy residue. It is the only deer repellent to offer consumers a 100% satisfaction guarantee that will solve deer damage problems. In the four-year study, conducted by Rutger's department of animal sciences, it was determined that DEER-OFF kept deer away from vegetation up to three times longer than the next most effective material. Dr. Larry Katz, the associate professor who performed the research said, "We have tested several commercially available products, but non have performed as well as DEER-OFF."
"DEER-OFF also protects flower bulbs from voles and moles," said Loucas. "Gardeners simply soak bulbs in DEER-OFF concentrate for five minutes, allow them to dry and plant them as usual. After new growth begins to appear, a spray of DEER-OFF will give additional protection."
DEER-OFF, which has been on the market for over three years with more than
250,000 users, is available in eight sizes in both ready-to-use containers and as a
concentrate. One quart of DEER-OFF concentrate will protect 4,000 square feet of
garden-approximately 400 to 500 planting-from deer, rabbit and squirrel damage for up to
three months.
